"It is very important that we have an officer at the school every day. In the wake of that incident, school officials sought help from the township in getting an SRO assigned at South Lyon High School for the balance of the school year. The recent incident to which Enlow referred involved a reported threat to shoot up South Lyon High School and resulted in a student being charged with a felony. "It has been extremely loud after the recent incident. There have been constant comments and chatter," school board Trustee Kristofer Enlow said. "My neighbors and residents have asked me why South Lyon High School doesn't have an SRO. South Lyon East is located in Lyon Township and, under the agreement, an Oakland County Sheriff's deputy has been working at the school. When that decision was made, the South Lyon Community Schools district and city officials weren't able to reach an agreement on cost-sharing, so no police officer was assigned full time at South Lyon High School, located within the city. It's a move that puts South Lyon High School on par with South Lyon East High School, which has had a full-time SRO for a year. For the rest of the school year, South Lyon High School will have a full-time school resource officer, with the funding split between the school district and Lyon Township.
